Bay Street north of the Plaza

St. Augustine Waterfront

This view looks north up Bay Street towards the Castillo. The house at the left edge of the card is now Harry’s Seafood Bar & Grill. The sea wall shown here is part of the wall built by the Army Corps of Engineers in the 1830s. This stretch of the seawall has been replaced by a four-lane boulevard and new sea wall with promenade, but parts of the 19th century structure can still be found protecting the waterfront south of the Bridge of Lions.
